5 Tips To Keep Kids Safe While Flying Kites This Summer
| Easynetwork RSS - Easynetwork News |
With the school year coming to a close for many children and summer quickly approaching, more and more kids will be at home enjoying their time off from school. Summer is one of the best times to go outside and experience the pleasant weather and scenery. It is also a great time to spend a few hours outside flying kites. They are fun to fly, and all kids love to be able to see their own float high up in the sky. However, it's important to keep kids safe, too. Here are a few tips to ensure your children enjoy a safe and fun experience this summer:
1. Watch For Summer Storms
In the summer, we've all experienced those random storms that bring about rain and sometimes even a little bit of wind. Some summer storms also include thunder and lightening, which is dangerous in itself. It may be a good idea to keep track of the weather on days your child will be flying kites. Flying one in a storm is never safe. Become your own meteorologist and make note of any possible storms that may head your way.
2. Stay Clear Of High Buildings And Trees
Flying kites near high buildings or tall trees can lead to injuries. Additionally, if your child flies one near buildings, there is a risk that he or she can somehow lose control of it and cause damage to the building, resulting in property damage. Flying one near trees can also be potentially hazardous, as it may get stuck in the tree and your child may injure himself when attempting to retrieve it.
3. Avoid Power Lines
In addition to high buildings and trees, it's important to never fly one near power lines as well. It can easily get stuck if the wind blows the wrong way, trapping it on live power lines that can cause a lot of bodily harm. Always instruct children to stay away from power lines. It may be a good idea to only fly one in areas that are free from power lines. Usually parks and open fields are some of the best places to target.
4. Stay Away From Busy Streets
While flying kites, many kids will get carried away when it comes to looking up in the sky. They want to see it fly around and do all sorts of tricks. But, while looking up, children can easily forget to look where they're walking. Never allow your child to fly one near a busy street. Stick to fields and parks to ensure your child's safety.
5. Don't Use Metallic Flying Line
Metallic flying line isn't suitable for any child. It's important to use the right type of kite supplies that are approved and safe for children. Using the wrong line or some other type of kite supplies can be extremely dangerous. Try to find kite supplies that are constructed from cotton or another similar type of material that isn't as dangerous.
By following these simple tips, you can rest assured that your child will practice safe and enjoyable kite flying all summer long.
